School system & qualifications
New Zealand high school includes the Years 9 to 13. The system places great value on individual support and offers many elective subjects so that you can develop your strengths. School uniforms are compulsory and promote equality and team spirit. At the end there is this National Certificate of Educational Achievement (NCEA Level 3), which corresponds to the German Abitur and entitles you to study.
School year & everyday life
The school year in New Zealand begins End of January and is in four terms divided. There are two-week holidays between the terms; There are several weeks of vacation over the summer (December/January). Classes usually start around 9 a.m. and end at 3 p.m. Classes are hands-on, and many schools offer outdoor programs, music, art, and sports activities.
Public schools are state-funded for New Zealand students, but international students pay school fees. Private and boarding schools are more expensive but offer additional care and often specialized programs.
Requirements & Visa
