England and Ireland offer English-language schooling in Europe, but they feel different. Compares accommodation, school system, proximity, cost factors and atmosphere.
School system & teaching
In England you follow the British curriculum with GCSEs and A-Levels. Classes are often larger and there are strict exams. Ireland has its own system with Junior Cycle and Leaving Certificate. The schools are more familiar and place emphasis on practical projects. You will improve your English in both countries.

Visa & length of stay
After Brexit, exchange students will need to stay in England for at least six months Student Visas (Child Student Visas). For programs under six months, a standard visitor Visa is usually sufficient. Find out about current regulations in good time. For Ireland, which is part of the EU, a valid passport is usually sufficient for EU citizens; Longer stays require registration with the local police.
Duration affects the intensity of the experience: A trimester (approx. 3 months) allows a first insight during a half year lets you experience the full day-to-day school life. A whole year offers the opportunity to take exams such as the Junior Certificate (Ireland) or GCSEs (England) and to make deep friendships.
